Default CISCO WCS & Cisco Location Appliance

Cisco WCS Version 4.1.91.0
Location 3.0.37.0

I am in the process of a large deployment of LWAP Access points. At the start of the deployment I could see all clients attached to the network, on the heat maps within the WCS. In the last few weeks I have noticed that clients appear and disappear from the heat maps, even though I know they are connected. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Default WCs and Location servers

How large of a deployment? The location server can only handle 2500 clients. If you are over that amount of clients you will need to purchase another location server.

I had that problem after I added a floor in the WCS. Here is what Cisco had me do to resolve the issue.

Hi Ronald,

Next step:

Please delete LA from WCS via GUI and then clean up the LA database as below:

1. Stop LA application: service locserverd stop

2. Delete LA database: rm /opt/locserver/db/linux/server-eng.db

3. Start LA application: service locserverd start

4. Re-add LA into your WCS.

Remember, by default, WCS and LA talks HTTP. If you want to change to HTTPS, you will need to change it on the WCS side.

Please let me know if this resolves your issue.

Backup that DB if you have asset descriptions. I noticed after I did this they were gone. Fortunatly I only had a few asset descriptions that I filled in. Also re-synch when complete.
